Predictions for Satuday, December 13th, 2014

Love me or hate me, I do this column for you guys, the rugby community of Florida. I do it just to get you guys fired up, commenting, talking, or simply visiting this great website that Charlee Velazquez put together three seasons ago to fill a void that wasn't being filled by the Florida Rugby Union. We're not just a "third party site", as some people might refer to us as. We are the must-visit site for all things Florida rugby and will continue to be, no matter what the haters might think.

OK, rant over. While my email box regularly sits empty (sidelinewhisperer@rugbyfl.com, hit me up!), I absolutely love seeing the comments on the Facebook pages about my predictions.

Palm Beach Panthers? LOVE YOU!! While I can't physically do that to myself, I appreciate you reading and congrats on the big win vs. Brevard. Keep up the good work in D3, you pink panthers, you.

And Tampa Krewe? LOVE YOU TOO!! Sorry, I am right on occasion. Actually, about 73% of the time, so the stats say.

Keep the comments coming, people!

Last week was decent, going 4-2-1 with Daytona and Sarasota giving us our first tie in a while. And major kudos to Jax, who are clearly the real deal, having knocked off two of last year's state final four in consecutive games ON THE ROAD. That's big time right there. And thanks to the Griffins for proving my bold prediction of a win over Krewe correct.

Division II

Miami (0-1) at Naples (0-1): Miami have to be pissed. The defending state champs opened their season last week by getting smacked around at home by Jax in the first half before mounting a late run to keep the score respectable. Sure, the Bumblebees have numbers, but do they have the talent to win it all again this year? Meanwhile, the Hammerheads played Boca tough last week and are never easy to knock off at home. I think the men in gold and black will be angry enough to avoid going 0-and-2, but only just. Miami 28, Naples 23

Fort Lauderdale (1-0) at Orlando (1-0): The Knights took care of the Tridents as expected last week, but will face a much sterner text against the Griffins on the road here. Orlando are improved from their disappointing 2013-14 campaign and will give Lauderdale all they can handle in this contest. I just think the Knights have too much talent across the board for the Griffins to handle. Fort Lauderdale 32, Orlando 20

Tridents (0-1) vs. Boca Raton (1-0): A loss to Fort Lauderdale isn't the end of the world, and the Tridents did manage to put up 20-plus points against the Knights, despite having a few new players in key positions. Things will come together for the men from Miami I think, but it might not be until the new year. Boca beat Naples in week 1, but it wasn't in convincing fashion by any means. Like the Tridents, the Bucs might take time to jell as they did last season, but I think they'll do just enough to pull out the victory in this one. Boca Raton 24, Tridents 17

Division 3

They are off for two friggin' months!! Who made this crazy-ass schedule, EH?

Last Week: 4-2-1 (57.1%)
This Season: 13-7-1 (61.9%)
All Time: 114-41-1 (73.1%)
