HS & JV Age Grade Rugby

At the past AGM there was agreement reached to launch a JV league, or at least a schedule to get younger players, U17 the opportunity to gain experience and prepare them for HS league play.
On the very first weekend of a pre season scrimmage between Orlando and Cape which was to be a JV match it is apparent based on information available that Orlando played at least 2 players who were over age.

It is unfortunately that I have to write to each club on this particular subject. It was clearly stated that if a team wishes to play an over age player then that should be declared to the opposition coach and that he has the right to veto those players. The reason for this is simple, SAFETY. Our number one priority is the safety of our players, that must be our overriding priority. If a couple of older players have to sit out so the remaining group can safely experience the joys of rugby, then that is the way it is. As President I have been asked to follow up on this. I hope the rules are very clear and explicit. I am placing Orlando on a Yellow Card warning, and require that for ALL games Orlando supply a roster with players Date of Birth listed in addition to CIPP #. I also want to restate our policy on CIPP. NO CIPP REGISTRATION = NO PLAY, I find that Orlando Youth have only 8 registered players so were at best eligible to play 7’s!. Simple fact, CIPP provides Liability and Injury insurance, but if your playing against, or with unregistered players this insurance is VOID. DON’T DO IT. Coaches, its very simple to check yur opponent through USAR membership, go to LAU Club Summary and select Florida SBRO and you can check a clubs status. Please, get your players registered and let’s have a great season Martin K Gardner, President and Executive Officer
