Well, it didn't take long for
the D3 world to be shaken up, did it? And D2, come to think of it. Last week Sarasota took a
second straight loss, this one on the road to Brevard, leaving them at 1-2 and
possibly on the brink of playoff elimination already in mid-November. Also, Daytona went to
Tallahassee and knocked off the Conquistadors. Better to be a good D3 team than
a terrible D2 team, I guess! And then in D2, Jacksonville
went on the road and knocked off state finalists from last year, Tampa Krewe,
29-10. The craziness has begun! But let's be realistic for a
moment here, there is still a long way to go. And with six legitimate title
contenders in D3 this season rather than the 3 or 4 it's been in previous
years, a few teams are likely to knock each other off here and there, meaning
Sarasota isn't out of it with two losses, but really might have to win out to
avoid missing the playoffs. Three losses could be a killer. A quiet Saturday this week is
followed by Thanksgiving, and then things really get going in December. I hope
everyone enjoys their break and that everyone but the front rows doesn't eat
too much. D3 Tallahassee (1-1) at
Gainesville (3-0) - A win for the Hogs here would put them at 4-0 with half
their games played, although they would still have Palm Beach, Daytona and
Brevard still to play, so their record is a little misleading. Tallahassee took
a close home loss to the Coconuts last weekend, and won't want to drop two in a
row heading into the break. I expect a close contest in this one, with the Hogs
narrowly pulling out the home win. The Conquistadors certainly have what it
takes to cause an upset, however. Gainesville 28, Tallahassee 25 Last Week: 2-3 Season: All-Time:
