Starting this week and throughout the South Matrix season, The Sideline Whisperer will be predicting the results of every men’s match* (no offense, women, but I don’t watch/hear about enough of your games to give a true opinion). Please don’t use these for gambling purposes, as obviously that’s illegal in the USA (sort of). These are all in good fun, and should thus be taken as such.

Division 2
The complete schedule for the 2012 FRU State Championship Cup Div. II can be seen here.
Boca Raton (0-0) at Miami Tridents (0-1)
The Tridents opened their Division Two matrix season last weekend with a 21-3 road loss to Fort Lauderdale. Boca, meanwhile, are dropping down from Division One and will likely be looking to make a point in their first game back in D2. Even though Miami is never an easy place to win, the Buccaneers took care of the Tridents at All-Florida Weekend, and I think they will do the same here on Saturday.
Boca Raton 24, Miami Tridents 12
Miami RFC (0-1) at Fort Lauderdale (1-0)
The Bumblebees will be very angry at having been run off the park 52-3 by Naples last week, a game you can watch on the front page of our site here at rugbyfl.com. Sure, the Hammerheads are defending South champs, but losing by 49 points at home is no way to start your competitive season. While I think this one will be closer than last week’s debacle in Miami, I give the edge to the improved Knights with the home-field advantage.
Fort Lauderdale 28, Miami RFC 25.
Daytona Beach (0-0) at Bay Area Pelicans (0-1)
Pelis made the long trip to Jacksonville last weekend and were demolished 44-15. As a team that hasn’t traveled well in recent years, that result was no shock, so this home game should be a good test of where the Pelis really stand in the D2 picture. Of course, Daytona themselves though aren’t the greatest travelers either, so this one might well depend on what sort of squad the Coconuts bring to the west coast. I think they’ll bring just enough talent to edge this one in a low-scoring affair.
Daytona 15, Pelicans 10
Tampa Krewe (0-1) at Jacksonville (1-0)
Krewe fell just short in an overtime loss to Orlando on opening weekend, a result that I have a feeling won’t stand, considering there shouldn’t ever be overtime in a regular season matrix match. Jax, meanwhile, easily handled the Pelicans. This game will undoubtedly be more of a test for Jacksonville, as Krewe reached the championship game at All-Florida Weekend last month before losing to Boca, and despite all their issues, still have some components from their great national championship game runs. As with most of these games, the result of this game could depend on who Krewe bring on the road with them to the northeast corner of the state. I’m going to lean with the host side building on the momentum of a season-opening victory.
Jacksonville 31, Krewe 22.
