There's some football game on Sunday, but forget about those pansies in pads. Instead, let's focus on a massive weekend of Florida rugby featuring some superb local rivalries. Oh, and don't forget the Six Nations starting with Wales playing Italy and France hosting England on Saturday, and Ireland/Scotland on Sunday.
Had another solid week of predictions last time out, so going to try and keep my form going, although this is an especially tough week.

Division II (Click to view Championship Page) Naples (2-2) at Tampa Krewe (2-2) - A huge West Coast
matchup here, with the loser likely out of the playoff picture. These two teams
play each other twice for some odd reason with this wacky, uneven D2 schedule,
and Naples won 19-10 back in November. However, two unsuccessful trips to
Miami-Dade County have left the Hammerheads fighting for their postseason
lives. Krewe, meanwhile, have won two in a row coming into this game and appear
to possibly be finally getting on track. This should be a tense, close affair,
and I'll give the home team the slight edge. Krewe 22, Naples 20 Jacksonville (1-2) at Daytona (0-5) - A basement
battle featuring the two teams propping up the D2 standings. Jax beat Daytona
36-26 just three weeks ago, and while I would love to pick the Coconuts at home
here, I just think the visitors will have enough to pull out the win and keep
their season alive for the time being. Jacksonville 32, Daytona 20 Fort Lauderdale (2-2) at Boca Raton (3-2) - Another
game in which the loser is likely out of postseason contention, which makes
this local rivalry even more intense than normal. The Knights pulled out a win
over the Bucs in mid-November and handily beat Orlando last week as expected,
but Boca have won three in a row since the early meeting, including handing the
Tridents their only loss so far and demolishing Jacksonville (on the road) and
Orlando. Boca will be up for this one and looking for revenge. Boca Raton
30, Fort Lauderdale 17 Division III (Click to view Championship Page) Sarasota (1-0) at Gainesville (1-0) - This game has
the potential to be a doozy. With Sarasota winning via forfeit and the Hogs
crushing poor Indian River, it represents the first test for both sides. Along
with Palm Beach, these two sides are likely to be the class of D3, and a loss
here could be crushing for someone, meaning they might have to beat the
Panthers if they want to claim a playoff spot. Sarasota impressed greatly at
All-Florida Weekend under new coach Dai Morgan, while Gainesville are always in
the mix. While this one could go either way, I'm going to go with the Surge
picking up a road victory. Sarasota 19, Gainesville 17 Boca Raton (1-1) at Palm Beach (2-0) - Another very
intriguing fixture. Palm Beach have destroyed Brevard and Pelicans to open the
season and appear to be the favorites at the moment to take the No. 1 playoff
spot. Meanwhile, Boca defeated Pelicans in their opening game but then fell at
Brevard last week. I hear they were a little short-handed in that contest, but
still managed to put up decent points. The Panthers will be wanting to avoid
any losses in a tight D3 race for postseason spots, and should pull this one
off at home. However, an upset certainly wouldn't surprise me by any means,
especially with Palm Beach potentially looking ahead to their two huge games
coming up next against Sarasota and Gainesville. Palm Beach 35, Boca
Raton 28 Bay Area Pelicans (0-2) at Brevard (1-1) - Brevard
avoided an 0-2 start by sneaking past Boca last week, and can't afford to lose
another game if they want to keep pace with the leaders in this division. The
Pelicans have really struggled so far since dropping down to D3 and face a
second long road trip across the state in the space of three weeks here.
Brevard coasts in this one. Brevard 40, Pelicans 7 Last Week (1/25/13): 5-1 Season: 17-6 (73.9%)
All-Time: 66-24 (73.3%) Picture by Angie Pachcinski.
