The Sideline Whisperer
Predictions for Saturday, February 8th., 2014

Oh, if only you'd taken my six rugby picks last week instead of the Broncos!

Yup, managed to pick up my first undefeated week of the season, going 6-0. A few of the games could have gone either way, and I count myself lucky to have come through unscathed.

Only a small slate of games this week, as D3 is off. Remember, this information is only for entertainment purposes, unless you're lucky enough to find someone willing to give you Daytona and a bunch of points, of course.

Oh, and I keep forgetting: feel free to email me at sidelinewhisperer@rugbyfl.com about anything you have to say regarding this column.

D2

Tampa Krewe (3-2) at Miami RFC (4-0) - Krewe kept their season alive with a hard-fought eight-point win over Naples last week, but will have to both travel well and play their best rugby if they are to do the same this week against the undefeated guys in black and gold. Miami come in after a week off and have yet to lose any of their four games this season, outscoring their last three opponents 112-27. This one likely won't be as easy, but I expect their perfect start to continue. Miami RFC 35, Krewe 20

Daytona (0-6) at Orlando (1-3) - Both teams are playing for simply pride at this point after a rough beginning to their 2013-14 campaigns. Orlando won this contest on the road back in mid-November, 23-17, and while they have taken heavy defeats at the hands of Boca and Lauderdale recently, I like them to re-group a little in this one at home against a Daytona side that might not travel too well. Orlando 20, Daytona 10

Miami Tridents (4-1) at Fort Lauderdale (2-3) - The Knights fought hard last week against Boca in a 13-3 loss which likely ended their postseason chances, and the question here is going to be how much they have left in the tank against a Tridents squad that is coming off a bye. Tridents will want to maintain their top spot for at least one more week (they are off again on the 15th) and should be able to pick up the bonus point victory in this one. Miami Tridents 34, Fort Lauderdale 17

Last Week: 6-0

Season: 23-6 (79.3%)

All-Time: 72-24 (75%)
