—Played since 1998

Why did you decide to become a referee?
—Started a HS program and could not afford to pay referee's for my home matches
Did you have some kind of mentor?
—P-mac assessed me my first game and gave me some things to think about as a ref that I never considered as a coach or player.
Do you remember your first game as a referee? How did it go? Any funny or special memory?
—Eckerd vs UCF at the Fairgrounds, nicely contested game, went pretty smoothly
What was the most memorable screw up?
—Awarding a penalty 1 meter out. Probably should have awarded a penalty try or a yellow. Hardcastle corrected me afterwards. It was prettty much a sure try against an unorganized defenese from inside the tryzone. Defender on the ground in the ruck hands in (Nate Spears Orlando)
Which is the one game you most remember of your career?
—HS Girls, was way more intense and physical than I expected.
How well do players and coaches in Florida know the laws of the game?
—They remember their laws, unfortunately there have been a lot of changes, reffing old boys is very difficult.
What is your opinion in general of the attitude of players towards the referees in Florida?
—Poor.
As a referee, have you made more friends or foes?
—Hard to say since I wear so many hats in Florida Rugby. I am on the board, I am a coach, and I still boot up.
Does being able to watch a game on video help you improve your skills?
—Of Course, but getting quality video is difficult.
What are the most rewardings aspects of being a referee? And the least?
—Best seat in the house, getting paid, no injuries to nurse the next day. You are a man without a country in the middle of a battle. Reffing matches with fans watching from my club, your not funny guys.
If you have had the opportunity to ref a match oversees, how was that experience?
—No.
What would you tell a player to encourage him becoming a referee?
—Refer to the question above.

—Pick up a whistle you might like it.
